US former President Donald Trump ends NPR interview abruptly

On Tuesday, America’s former President Donald Trump ended an interview with NPR abruptly. The reason behind this departure was the questions regarding his baseless claims of 2020 election fraud.

Fraud claims

Earlier this month, America marked the first anniversary of the Capitol’s riots by Trump’s supporters. That violent incident happened after a baseless claim by Trump in late 2020. He claimed that there was a fraud in the elections which swayed the results in the favor of Biden. Biden later supported the change in the Senate rules to eradicate the delay in voting rights, after the introduction of restrictive bills before elections.

The NPR Interview

The former President Donald Trump abruptly ended the NPR interview on Tuesday. He hung up on the host Steve Inskeep of “Morning Edition” after he was asked about his false claims of election fraud. Trump hung up on “Morning Edition” host Steve Inskeep nine minutes into the interview. This interview was scheduled for 15-minutes that was broadcasted on Wednesday.

Steve also asked Trump about whether he’d only endorse Republican candidates this year. After this, as Steve tried to interrupt, Trump said, “So, Steve, thank you very much. I appreciate it.” Even after several tries by Steve Inskeep to talk to him about a court hearing on the incident of January 6, 2021. Also, earlier in the interview, Inskeep tried to ask Trump about his false claims on election fraud.

Views on COVID-19 vaccines

Trump also shared his views on the vaccines of coronavirus. He said that taking the vaccination should be an individual choice and not a compulsion as it is really hurting the country’s economy badly. Though, he also requested everyone to take the doses of the vaccines soon.
